Dumfries Saints Rugby are saddened to hear of the passing of Archie Duncan who captained the club in season 1974-75. Archie was a club stalwart for many years as a skillful and versatile back he played every position in the back line over the course of his playing career at Park Farm. His playing mantra was champagne/running rugby which sometimes went awry but was great fun for the backline, if a little concerning for the forwards! Archie took his on-field theme of fun and enjoyment to his post-match antics. He led the way in entertaining the company in song and verse, which was pivotal in team bonding and led to many a memorable night in various licensed premises both in Dumfries and beyond. In common with many Dads Archie returned to Park Farm to help out with the Mini rugby when his son Will began to play. Archie now joins two other late great club entertainers in DT and Tally .... What a party!?
